Personal Bio

All my life I’ve been looking for challenge and adventure. I joined the British Army as an officer straight from school at 18. I was average at most sports but I loved outdoor pursuits such as skiing, mountain biking, canoeing and fell running. I qualified as a military parachutist with 16 Air Assault Brigade before serving on frontline operations in Iraq with the Light Infantry. Along with my future wife, I fell into adventure racing which was a brilliant introduction to endurance multisports.

I moved into the corporate world in 2006 joining a Big 4 professional services firm.  I fed my passion for adventure by working in locations across Europe, Middle East and Africa.  I’d spontaneously take on endurance challenges without any real focus on goals and how to improve. This included cycling non stop for charity from Lands to John O’Groats in just over 3 days.

In 2010 I entered Ironman UK as my next random challenge. With zero knowledge of triathlon, I ended up walking most of the marathon. This left me with an endurance puzzle to solve which evolved into a passion for triathlon training and racing. Dedicating myself to constant learning and improvement I coached myself to multiple short distance GB age group qualifications.

To achieve my ultimate goal of qualifying for and racing at the Ironman World Championships in Kona I worked with a number of world class coaches. They included coaches and former professional athletes Tim Don, Matt Bottrill and Ian Dempsey.

Based in the Surrey Hills, I’ve been endurance coaching for the past 10 years. I love helping athletes from all backgrounds and abilities achieve their season goals and racing dreams. I look to find creative ways for busy folk to make the most of their training time…in balance with family, work and life commitments.
